Andy McAlpine is an experienced human
resource development professional with over 38 years experience
in the public, private and voluntary sectors. He is a Chartered
Companion and former Branch Chair of the Chartered Institute of
Personnel and
Development
(CIPD) and former Chair of the CIPD Scottish Partnership (2002-2004).
He was an External Examiner for the Glasgow Caledonian University’s
MSc and Diploma in Human Resource Management (2000-2002),
a member of the IIP (Scotland) Recognition Panel
(1999-2002), and chair of the SCVO Quality Adviser’s Group 2002-2003.
Before becoming a consultant and facilitator in August 1999, Andy was Head of
Training and Development and Internal Communications at the Scottish Executive
(now the Scottish Government) with a key role in preparing managers and staff for Devolution. A successful
career in the civil service also encompassed experience of internal consultancy,
generic human resource responsibilities, as well as providing briefing for top
management and Ministers.
In August 1999 he resigned from the Scottish Executive to set up his own management
and organisational development consultancy - he now works with the public, private and
voluntary sectors – facilitating organisational, team and personal development.
